Situation of Italian citizens stranded in Sharm El-Sheikh

Following the cancellation of three direct commercial flights to Milan yesterday — due to the suspension of air traffic from Greece caused by a technical communications fault — approximately 600 Italian nationals are currently stranded in the tourist resort of Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

Among them, Alpitour clients (around 90) are expected to return on a special Neos flight scheduled to depart at midnight tonight. Other Italian nationals will also be repatriated on the same flight, under the coordination of the Italian Embassy in Cairo, which has dispatched two officials to the location.

In close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy is providing full assistance to those remaining on the ground, ensuring that they are accommodated in appropriate facilities and identifying alternative flights to enable their return to Italy at the earliest possible opportunity.
