Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, is in Jakarta on a mission focused on growth diplomacy. Indonesia is one of Italy’s key economic partners in the Asian region, with a market identified as having strong growth potential under the Export Action Plan promoted by Minister Tajani, making it particularly strategic for Italian businesses.
Today, the Undersecretary met with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arif Havas Oegroseno.
The discussions focused on opportunities for economic cooperation in the digital economy, technological innovation and the green transition, as well as the potential of the space sector for civil and environmental applications, from territorial monitoring to maritime security. The Undersecretary also emphasised the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in trade and investment, enhancing the bilateral dialogue and coordinating on multilateral issues of shared interest.
Subsequently, Tripodi held a meeting with ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn. “Italian support for ASEAN’s central role in the stability and development of Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific will continue with determination,” Tripodi stated, expressing particular satisfaction with the EUR 10 million investment that enabled the implementation of the Italy–ASEAN Development Partnership, yielding concrete results in the field of cooperation.
