The Italian Foreign Ministry notes the acquittal of Ahmed Shihab-Eldin, a United States journalist and lecturer at the University of Bari. The Embassy of Italy in Kuwait closely followed the case from the time of his arrest, maintaining close contact with the local authorities and with the Embassy of the United States, the journalist’s country of citizenship. Ahmed Shihab-Eldin was arrested on 3 March for sharing on social media videos relating to rocket and drone launches in the context of the conflict involving Iran.
