The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will be at the Fosse Ardeatine tomorrow, 25 April at 10:30 a.m., representing the Government on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Liberation Day. At the Fosse Ardeatine Mausoleum, the Minister will lay a laurel wreath at the plaque at the entrance to the Fosse Ardeatine, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the 355 victims of the Nazi-Fascist massacre.
At 12:30 p.m., Tajani will then travel to Ferentino (Frosinone), where, at the Rotonda di Vascello, he will lay a wreath at the Second World War Memorial. The monument also bears a plaque commemorating Don Giuseppe Morosini, a military chaplain who joined the anti-Nazi Resistance after 8 September and was executed on 3 April 1944 at Forte Bravetta. In recognition of his contribution to the Liberation struggle, he was awarded the Gold Medal for Military Valour, and his name is today remembered as a symbol of clerical resistance and sacrifice for freedom.
In the run-up to Liberation Day, Minister Tajani also paid tribute yesterday to the diplomat Francesco Babuscio Rizzo, who saved hundreds of lives among exiles and persecuted individuals during the Nazi-Fascist occupation of Rome between 1943 and 1944.
