Update on Spain

Farnesina

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy and the Consulate-General in Madrid, continues to monitor, in coordination with the Spanish authorities, the latest developments regarding the train accident in Toledo.

The situation regarding the Italian nationals involved in the accident remains unchanged, with two Italian women still missing and one hospitalised. The Consul of Italy in Madrid is on his way to the hospital to check on his condition and offer the necessary assistance.

The Consulate of Italy is in constant contact with the families of the missing Italian nationals, and has offered them assistance with any needs they may have. The Spanish authorities will be responsible for the procedures to identify the victims, including following the collection of DNA samples, which will be coordinated by the Spanish Ministry of Justice in conjunction with the relevant embassies.
