The University of Business and Technology (UBT) in Jeddah, one of Saudi Arabia’s leading universities, has inaugurated an Italian language course. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Consul General of Italy in Jeddah and promoter of the initiative, Leonardo Costa, the University’s Chairman and owner, Professor Abdullah S. Dahlan, and the highest academic institutions.

The new university course – co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – is the fruit of the considerable efforts undertaken to promote the Italian system in Saudi Arabia, also in the field of culture and language promotion.

At present, the course is attended by 58 students and is divided into two entry levels. Given the wide adhesion to the initiative, the University is already planning to add two more levels for the current year and four more for the following years: proof of the University’s desire to offer Italian language courses on a long-term basis.

The course represents a starting point for the development of further joint projects. A closer partnership with the UBT in Jeddah is being considered, involving the organisation of study and training trips to Italy for students attending the Italian course.
