On the occasion of the Madrid Design Festival 2024, the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid presents the exhibition “Mimetica– Riflessi e rifrazioni ceramiche” by Andrea Anastasio.
The extraordinary work of Andrea Anastasio – an internationally renowned Italian philosopher, designer and artist – focuses on the relationship between tradition and modernity and on the exploration of the forms of the past as a way of existing in one’s own time and of generating new utopias.
Along these lines, the exhibition – which has ceramics as its protagonist – brings together a series of works created by Andrea Anastasio since 2018, the year in which he took up the post of Artistic Director of Ceramica Gatti 1928, a historic “workshop” in Faenza, together with some creations made for Foscarini, a renowned Italian light design company.
In dialogue with the present, the exhibition also displays three Islamic ceramics of the 12th and 18th centuries from the collections of the Museum of Oriental Art in Turin.
The exhibition, open to the public from 10 February to 2 March 2024 at the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid, also displays the works Light Thread, created during the didactic workshop held by Andrea Anastasio in the second half of 2023 at the ESCUELA TÉCNICA SUPERIOR of the University of Navarra in Pamplona, thanks to a collaboration agreement between the prestigious Spanish university and the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid.
