The Embassy of Italy in Algeria, the Italian Cultural Institute in Algiers and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Arts, present the exhibition “The New Poetic Activism – Italian Design in Search of Inevitable Objects”, created by the ADI Design Museum in Milan under the direction of designer Mario Trimarchi.
Inaugurated on February 23, the exhibition will be open until March 27, 2025 at the Moufdi Zakaria Palace of Culture. The video of the inauguration event is available on the YouTube channel of the Italian Cultural Institute in Algiers.
“The New Poetic Activism” aims to tell the story of a traditional collaboration between creativity and industry that characterizes Made in Italy, through the testimonies of 17 Italian designers who explore new expressive poetics.
The exhibition questions the importance of the Italian attitude to explore unknown design territories. Mario Trimarchi, curator of the exhibition, emphasizes that this poetic activity has sought languages that go beyond mere function, calling for an analysis on the relationship between objects and people.
Luciano Galimberti, President of ADI, adds that industrial design has always sought to combine rationality and emotion, function and beauty. This exhibition explores how this poetic vocation, recently emerged, has generated artefacts that are now more than simple functional objects, becoming life companions and sources of ideas.
The designers of the exhibition are the following: Andrea Anastasio, Federica Biasi, Francesco Binfarè, Maddalena Casadei, Lorenzo Damiani, Michele De Lucchi, Francesco Faccin, Formafantasma, Marta Laudani, Giovanni Levanti, Raffaella Mangiarotti, Francesco Meda, Elena Salmistraro, Valerio Sommella, Paolo Ulian.
