Last February, the 12th Investec Cape Town Art Fair, the largest contemporary art fair in Africa, took place at the Cape Town International Convention Center (CTICC).
With an audience of over 30,000 people, the 2025 edition was an essential platform for cultural exchanges. The event is organised by Fiera Milano Exhibitions Africa (FMEA) – Fiera Milano S.p.A.
The over 120 exhibitors included many Italian galleries, such as Cellar Contemporary (Trento); Dep Art Gallery (Milan); Galleria Anna Marra (Rome); Galleria Giovanni Bonelli (Milan); Galleria Michela Rizzo (Venice); Lo Magno artecontemporanea (Modica); LIS10 (Arezzo).
The strong presence of the Italian art community, an essential part of the South African system, also characterised some key moments of the fair. These included the awarding of the RDC Acquisition Prize, led by entrepreneur and art collector Guido Giachetti, and the participation of the curator and founder of Recontemporary, Iole Pellion di Persano, moderator of the panel “The Role of Digital Media and Film in Contemporary Art”.
