Following its successful debut in Naples, the “Premio Caputo” exhibition embarks on its first international leg: the artworks will be on display at the Italian Cultural Institute of New York from 17 to 30 June 2025.
Launched in 2024 to celebrate the centenary of Mulino Caputo, the Premio Caputo is a corporate patronage initiative designed to support and promote a new generation of artistic talent. Aimed at students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, the Premio Caputo invited young artists to explore the relationship between art and food, resulting in a contemporary art exhibition that premiered at the Historical Archive of the Banco di Napoli Foundation in autumn 2024.
Marking the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of Naples, the artworks created by the students, which celebrate the aesthetics and poetry of a collective cuisine deeply rooted in the city’s working-class neighbourhoods, will present the public with the extraordinary artistic and culinary heritage of Naples.
Curated by Olga Scotto di Vettimo and Arcangela Di Lorenzo, both lecturers at the Academy, the exhibition offers young artists a valuable opportunity for international exposure through a venue of high cultural importance.
“New York is the most coveted stage for global contemporary art, and we are therefore delighted to host this project at the Italian Cultural Institute. It allows us to showcase the exceptional talent of a new generation of Italian artists and the vibrant spirit of a constantly evolving city like Naples, proving that patronage can indeed flourish in Italy as well,” said Fabrizio Di Michele, Consul General of Italy in New York.
The Premio Caputo project was created by Valore Italia in collaboration with Mulino Caputo, with the support of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the Banco di Napoli Foundation, the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, Museimpresa, and is arriving in New York with the backing of the Italian Cultural Institute of New York and partner Arterìa.
