The Italian Cultural Institute of Prague organised two special events dedicated to Federico Fellini, the unforgettable master of Italian cinema and one of the most visionary and influential directors in the history of the seventh art. More than thirty years after his passing, Fellini’s creative genius and his extraordinary ability to blend reality and imagination continue to captivate audiences and inspire new generations of filmmakers around the world. The Prague events offered a unique opportunity to explore Fellini’s dreamlike and visionary universe through the screening of “8½” short films and two previously unreleased documentaries, produced thanks to the collaboration between established directors and emerging talents of the contemporary Italian film scene.
The first evening featured the documentary “Fellini and Beyond” by Francesco Gallo and Sabrina La Macchia, and the medium-length four-part film “Torna, resta” directed by Mino Capuano, Marco De Filippo, Tommaso Banti, Ludovico Bosica, and Alain Parroni. The second presentation included the documentary “Amarfellini” by Veronica Citi, followed by: “Orrendi scarabocchi” (animation) by Virginia Ardizzone and Giulia Brighenti, “Omaggio a F.”, a short film by Daniele Ciprì, “Rome” (audiovisual) by Marco and Aurelia Pietrolini, “Quattro e un quarto” (animation) by Laura Ettori, “Satyricon: ubique latens” by Gabriele Gianni and Giulio Pernice and the trailer of the documentary “Fellini senza angeli” by Serena Lazzaro and Tommaso Banti.
“We were immediately enthusiastic about the proposal to host the Tribute to Fellini project at our Institute,” said Marialuisa Pappalardo, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Prague. “Fellini’s legacy is not a memory of the past, but a living and inexhaustible source of inspiration. This was clearly demonstrated by the diverse works of these young Italian film talents – tomorrow’s directors – who, through their unique vision, deepened our understanding of one of the greatest auteurs in the history of cinema”.
