The third edition of IT Out OFF is currently taking place in Berlin. The programme, launched in 2022 by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity (Italian Ministry of Culture) in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation), aims to promote the internationalisation of Italian contemporary art.
This year, the programme features “MILLESUONI”, a multidisciplinary project branching into a range of artistic expressions rooted in sound as a fundamental element. Conceived and curated by Lisa Andreani, MILLESUONI unfolds across various venues in Berlin’s creative scene—including Volksbühne, Neun Kelche, and MONOM—showcasing the work of Nicola Di Croce, Nicolò Pellarin, and Ramona Ponzini.
Drawing from the theories of Deleuze and Guattari on sound, and inspired by the book “MILLESUONI. Deleuze, Guattari and Electronic Music” by Emanuele Quinz and Roberto Paci Dalò, the programme explores how sound can pave the way to new forms of equality. In this vision, sound is not merely an outcome of physical movement in space, but a living force capable of generating presence, relationships, and emotion. MILLESUONI thus invites audiences to rethink their way of listening and connecting with the world around them.
The project unfolds in four distinct phases: on 26 and 27 June, the participating artists, accompanied by the curator, took part in a programme of workshops and encounters at the Future Unification Center for Kunst at Volksbühne, open to both professionals and enthusiasts. From 1 to 13 July, MILLESUONI took material form in an exhibition at Neun Kelche, an independent art space. From 22 to 26 September, a five-day residency by Ramona Ponzini and Nicolò Pellarin will open to the public after the first three days, culminating in an open discussion on the artists’ methodological approaches and sound explorations.
The programme will conclude on 25 September with a conversation featuring curator Zasha Colah and co-curator Valentina Viviani, marking the release of a vinyl record dedicated to the project, in collaboration with the Berlin Biennale.
