The exhibition dedicated to Pino Pascali has opened at the Považská Art Gallery in Žilina. The event has been organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Bratislava and the Embassy of Italy, in collaboration with Frittelli Arte Contemporanea and the Archivio dell’Opera Grafica di Pino Pascali in Florence.
Curated by Simone Frittelli, the exhibition focuses in particular on the artist’s works created for advertising purposes between 1959 and 1967. These pieces – in which Pascali’s playful approach comes to the fore – have gradually gained increasing interest and recognition within the art world, on par with his better-known pictorial and sculptural works. The exhibition is further enriched by a series of photographs by Marcello Colitti, portraying the Apulian artist at work in his studio.
Part of the 18th edition of the Italian festival in Slovakia, Dolce Vitaj, the exhibition marks the 90th anniversary of Pascali’s birth. His works are now part of major museum collections in Italy and abroad, ranging from the GNAM – Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome to the MoMA – Museum of Modern Art in New York.
