On 30 September 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation hosted the launch event of the fourth edition of AIR – Artists in Residence 2025, a project promoted by MIDJ (Italian Jazz Musicians), with the support of SIAE (Italian Society of Authors and Publishers) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Europe Jazz Network.
During the event, by means of a draw, the eleven international destinations that will host the winners of the call for applications were assigned: Addis Ababa, Almaty, Chicago, Istanbul, Marseille, Prague, Nairobi, Rio de Janeiro, Stockholm, Tirana and Valletta.
The President of MIDJ, Susanna Stivali, drew the residencies, while the names of the musicians were drawn by Marco Maria Cerbo, Head of the Coordination Unit of the Italian Cultural Institutes – Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

AIR – Artists in Residence is an initiative designed to encourage and support the compositional and creative work of Italian musicians through artistic residencies in cities around the world, fostering intercultural dialogue and promoting Italian music at international level.
With this new edition, AIR confirms its role as a project of cultural exchange and professional growth, strengthening the link between cultural diplomacy and contemporary musical creativity.
