Vilnius, exhibition “Echoes Between Forests and Mountains”

The exhibition “Echoes Between Forests and Mountains” is a dialogue between Lithuanian and Italian artists exploring the complex dynamics between nature, myths, technology, and human impact. Rooted in their respective landscapes – from Lithuanian forests to Alpine valleys – the artists present sculptural and sensory experiences that reflect a shared concern for our relationship with the natural world and its transformations. The conceptual landscape blends sculpture, film, installations, and sound, weaving together ecological processes, human stories, and visions of the future. Many of the works are based on organic materials that have been collected, recycled, or digitally modelled. They reflect the multifaceted nature of life and its constant change.

Through this lens, the exhibition invites visitors to explore alternative modes of perception and to reconsider the dominance of an anthropocentric view of the world.

The Italian artists featured in “Echoes Between Forests and Mountains” were selected by Lorenzo Giusti, curator of the Biennale Gherdëina 9, while the Lithuanian artists were selected by Neringa Kulik. The exhibition, open until 9 November 2025, is the result of a collaboration between the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, the Embassy of Italy in Lithuania, the Italian Cultural Institute of Vilnius, Kaunas Biennial, and Biennale Gherdëina.

The project is part of a broader two-year (2025–2026) programme of cultural exchange and mutual promotion between Italy and Lithuania.
