Bid For Americas is a strategic platform of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) aimed at actively promoting trade and business opportunities between the 26 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean and key partners in Europe, North America and Asia. The fundamental objective is to create a bridge between companies in the region and their global counterparts, while supporting regional economic development.

The platform provides updates on the procurement processes in projects financed by the Bank, as well as the possibility to connect directly with potential local partners, from private companies to public entities, through targeted B2B (Business-to-Business) and B2G (Business-to-Government) meetings.

B2B business sessions are designed to directly connect exporters or local suppliers with international customers or companies seeking strategic partnerships or joint ventures, while B2G meetings turn into opportunities for the private sector to engage with high-level government officials and representatives of the Trade Promotion Agencies of the 26 countries in the region to discuss trade policies, the investment climate, regulations and to facilitate the removal of any obstacles.

In view of further facilitating access to opportunities arising from funded projects, the IDB provides specific tools such as the Bidder Center, a resource center dedicated to bidders, and the Build the Americas mobile application that connects users with local suppliers of goods and services through matchmaking to develop infrastructure projects.

IDB Invest, the IDB Group’s Division for the private sector, is also expanding its reach and the opportunities for global companies engaged in project financing in Latin America and the Caribbean, while IDB Lab supports venture capital and early-stage entrepreneurship in the region. Finally, in addition to the networking activities organized with co-financing partners, investors and government institutions, the Inter-American Development Bank’s Office for Global Partnerships promotes many initiatives with public and private sector partners around the world.

Each year, the Inter-American Development Bank provides more than $24 billion in financing and resource mobilization and funds an average of nearly $4.5 billion in project procurement for sustainable and inclusive development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
