The Italian-Latin American Institute sponsors the “Museo Verde” (“Green Museum”) project that will be presented next Friday, at 9:50 a.m., at the Villa Giulia Etruscan Museum, as part of the 3rd International Conference of Museology organised by Dia’ Cultura.
The project merges ancestral traditions and modern technologies with the aim of valorising the native cultures of the Gran Chaco Pantanal, a little-known region three times the size of Italy situated in the heart of the South American Continent, between Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay.
The project is grounded on four essential points:
– creating a network of mini museum facilities across the territory in order to preserve and display ancient traditional objects;
– stimulating artistic/artisanal activities which, in some cases, are inoperative;
– promoting the virtual devolution to native populations of artefacts kept in Italian museums;
– mapping the cultures of the region, plotting an Ethnological Circuit of the Gran Chaco Pantanal for adventure tourism.
