A ceremony, promoted by Italy, Spain and Panama, was held on 18 June, 2018 on the sidelines of the WFP Executive Board meeting to celebrate the 18th Anniversary of the UNHRD. Italy concomitantly handed over to Spain the chairmanship of the Group of Friends of UNHRD, which the Italian government launched in 2015 to support the Programme’s activities, bringing together donors, partners and other actors.
The UN Humanitarian Response Depot is a network within the WFP, which consists of six support hubs providing supply chain solutions to the humanitarian community. In his remarks, the WFP Executive Director, David Beasley, expressed his appreciation for the UNHRD and the Group in providing timely logistic solutions to humanitarian crises. Both Ambassad0r Sacco and Madam Ambassador Garcia Aldaz, and the Permanent Representative of Panama, Jacome, confirmed their commitment to enhance the effectiveness of UNHRD.
