Among the recent acquisitions of the Farnesina Collection, Alessia Armeni’s work weaves an intricate relationship with time, which seems to settle on the surface of her canvas.
In “24h_painting_rome_07/02/2019” (2019), the artist faithfully transcribes the variations of light as observed inside a room over the course of a day. The alternation of the hours is indeed rendered through a sequence of 24 vertical bands with which the artist seems to sample the colours of light. Time dilation is thus unfolded on canvas and enclosed in a single glance.
