To mark Africa Day, an event entitled “Italy–Africa dialogue: The voice of cultural and creative industries – The case of fashion” was held on Tuesday, 27 May at Palazzo Mattei di Paganica in Rome. The initiative was co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Italian Trade Agency, Treccani Cultura Foundation, and the Institute for Italy–Africa Dialogue (IDIAF).
The event formed part of the celebrations for Africa Day, which takes place on 25 May each year to commemorate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in Addis Ababa in 1963, later succeeded in 2002 by the African Union.
The gathering offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on the strategic role of cultural and creative industries in strengthening ties between Italy and Africa. Particular emphasis was placed on the fashion sector as a vehicle for intercultural dialogue and economic development.
Experts, entrepreneurs, designers, institutional representatives, and cultural figures took part in the event, with the aim of exploring new avenues for collaboration and synergies between the Italian fashion system and emerging African realities.
The initiative served as a platform to promote dialogue and partnership between Italy and the African continent, highlighting the role of cultural and creative industries in building a shared future.
