Foreign Minister Emma Bonino will be attending the presentation of Hands Off Cain’s 2013 report on the death penalty, “The Death Penalty Worldwide”. The event will take place in Via di Torre Argentina 76, in Rome, at 15.00 on Friday 26 July 2013.

Also taking part will be Giuseppe Ferraro, from the Università Federico II in Naples; Marco Pannella, President of Hands Off Cain; Sergio d’Elia, the organisation’s Secretary; and Elisabetta Zamparutti, Treasurer.

Hands Off Cain’s 2013 report, published by Reality Book, is an account of the most significant events concerning the death penalty in 2012 and the first six months of 2013.

The event will also illustrate the goals of the Hands Off Cain campaign following the UN General Assembly’s approval of the resolution on the global moratorium on executions in December 2012.

This year’s report is dedicated to Martin O’Malley, Governor of Maryland, who abolished the death penalty on 2 May 2013, making Maryland the sixth American state to do so. Governor O’Malley will receive the “Abolitionist of the Year for 2013” award at an event attended by numerous Ambassadors and Italian members of Parliament.
