IAI-OSCE SEMINAR: Towards Helsinki +40: OSCE, the Global Mediterranean and the Future of Cooperative Security

The seminar entitled “Towards Helsinki +40: OSCE, the Global Mediterranean and the Future of Cooperative Security” will take place on Thursday 18 September from 9.00 to 17.00. The event is organised by the Institute of International Affairs (Italian initials IAI) and the OSCE Secretariat, in collaboration with the Compagnia di San Paolo. It enjoys the joint patronage of the Swiss Presidency of the OSCE and the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.


The event is an important development in strengthening dialogue between the north and south of the Mediterranean, as part of the programme to revitalise the role of the OSCE 40 years on from the Helsinki Conference of 1975 (Helsinki +40 Process).


The event will be opened by the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mario Giro. Participants will include eminent scholars from Europe and southern shore of the Mediterranean, representatives of the 57 OSCE countries, the organisation’s 6 Mediterranean partner countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Israel and Jordan), and Libya.


Online accreditation system. Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in following the event should:


– complete the interactive form available at http://mae.accreditationsystem.info/ITA/Indice.asp


– attach all required documentation (if not already submitted) to the form, in digital format

Required digital documentation:

– a letter from your media organisation

– for foreign journalists in Italy: a note verbale issued by the Embassy in Rome of your media organisation’s country.

If you are unable to complete the online accreditation procedure, please send your application by fax to the Foreign Ministry’s Press and Institutional Communication Service (tel. 06/3691.3432– fax 06/3691.7193) or by email to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it.


Accredited journalists, photographers and TV crews should enter the Ministry by the main entrance (left-hand side) from 8.30 onwards.
