ACCREDITATION NOTICE – Presentation of the first Italian Design Day in the World (Farnesina, 2 March, 2017)

The First Italian Design Day in the World. Minister Alfano: “A magnificent showcase for Italy in the world. An inititative that seeks to promote the excellence of our country, as a superpower of beauty.”

The first Italian Design Day, organised by the Directorate General for  Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will be held on Thursday,  2 March, 2017, at 4 p.m. at the Farnesina. The event is part of the  integrated promotion strategies carried by the Foreign Ministry through its campaign  “Vivere all’Italiana” (“The Italian Way of Life”). Design represents a hallmark of ‘Made in Italy’ products,  capable of conveying an innovative image of our country and triggering a major economic impact. The initiative will be a magnificent showcase for Italy across the world, featuring the points of excellence of our Country as a ‘Superpower of Beauty’,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, who will open the event on 2 March. 

The ceremony will take place at the attendance of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Italy and the members of the media. It will be opened by Minister Angelino Alfano, whose remarks will be followed by those of the Undersecretary of State for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Dorina Bianchi. Among the participants there will also be the Vice-President of the Triennale di Milano, Clarice Pecori Giraldi, Italian architect and designer Antonio Citterio, the President of the Salone del Mobile, Roberto Snaidero, the President of the Fondazione Compasso d’Oro and of ADI, Luciano Galimberti, and the President of  ICE, the Italian Trade Agency, Michele Scannavini. 

The event will be chaired by the Director General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of the Foreign Ministry, Vincenzo De Luca. 

The ceremony will take place at the Palazzo della Farnesina. In the space in front of the building, the ADI -Fondazione Compasso D’Oro will organise an exhibition of over 30 designer signature objects that, in the past decades, have been awarded the prestigious ‘Compasso D’Oro’ prize, including a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, a vintage Fiat 500 dating back to 1959, a Fiat 500 dated 2011, and a Vespa Piaggio GS 150, on show at MOMA in New York City. 

The ceremony will also include the inauguration of a new Meeting Room (former ‘Sala Sartorio’), designed by ADI on a pro-bono basis, which will feature prestigious design objects and furniture.

Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in following the event are requested to apply for accreditation in one of the following two ways:

–    by filling the interactive form at the link http://mae.accreditationsystem.info/ITA/Indice.asp, attaching thereto, unless already provided, the information requested in digital format (letter from the media organisation and, for representatives of foreign media, also a Note Verbale released by the Rome Embassy of the media organisation’s Country).   

–   by sending an email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Institutional Press and Communication Service at the following address: accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (Tel. + 39 06/3691.3432 or 8573 or 8210), attaching thereto the letter of his/her media organisation (or press card) and, for members of the foreign press, a Note Verbale released by the Rome Embassy of the media organisation’s Country.

Accredited journalists, photographers and TV crews can collect their accreditation badges at the Farnesina’s main entrance, left side, from 3 p.m.
