PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTICE – HerWorldOurWorld (Rome, Piazza del Popolo, 25 May 2018)

The “HerWorldOurWorld” event will be held between 9.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. on 25 May 2018 at the Piazza del Popolo in Rome. It is promoted by the European Commission and organised by the Foreign Ministry in association with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

At 10.30 a.m., the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Elisabetta Belloni, will introduce the event and illustrate the overall commitment of the Italian Cooperation Service to gender equality.

The event is part of the “European Development Days” programme organised by the European Commission in Brussels for 5 and 6 June next. It aims to promote gender as a driver for development in the countries planning International Cooperation activities.

Tiziana Ferrario will then provide a testimonial at the event. Presentations will also be made by  Giorgio Marrapodi, Director General for Development Cooperation, and Leonardo Carmenati, Director at the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

The event will take place on the same day in the capitals of the member countries taking part. Tiziana Ferrario will give a testimonial for the occasion.

The aim is to raise awareness among the European public, and especially young people, of the commitment by the European Union and member countries to promote gender equality, with special regard to the development projects carried out in the partner countries.

The event will be open to the press at all times.

Journalists, photographers and TV crews who wish to attend the event should apply for accreditation by sending an email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Institutional Press and Communication Service at:accreditamentostampa@esteri.it  (tel. 06/3691.3432-8573-8210), attaching the letter of their media organisation (or press card for journalists) and, for members of the foreign press, a Note Verbale released by the Rome Embassy of the media organisation’s country.

Accredited journalists can go to the event stand at 10.00 a.m.
