“Legal Diplomacy as driver of foreign policy. Combatting corruption and transnational organised crime. Italy’s commitment”
Farnesina – 9 December 2024, 9:00 a.m.
On Monday, 9 December 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the meeting “Legal Diplomacy as driver of foreign policy. Combatting corruption and transnational organised crime. Italy’s commitment” (“La Diplomazia Giuridica come direttrice di politica estera. Il contrasto alla corruzione ed al crimine organizzato transnazionale. L’impegno dell’Italia”), organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, will be held in the Farnesina’s International Conference Hall.
The event will open with a political Dialogue, with Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi taking part in person.
Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio and Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the OECD, will also be in attendance, via video link.
At the end of the initial session of political Dialogue, there will be an opportunity for the authorities to make statements to the press.
The event will then resume with two panels featuring Riccardo Guariglia, Secretary General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Chiara Colosimo, Chair of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into the phenomenon of Mafia-type organisations, including foreign ones.
Nicoletta Bombardiere, the Director General for Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will conclude the meeting.
Representatives from the leading national and international institutions engaged in combating corruption, from the business world, and from civil society will be on hand at the meeting.

For representatives of Italian press organisations:
- copy of an identity document;
- letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.
For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
- copy of an identity document;
- letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
- Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.
For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.
Accredited journalists, photographers and cameramen may enter the Farnesina from the main entrance, left side, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
