MEETING OF THE QUINTET FOREIGN MINISTERS

ON THE SITUATION IN SYRIA

Villa Madama – Thursday, 9 January 2025

 

 

On Thursday, 9 January 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, will chair a Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Quintet (USA, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy) at Villa Madama, which will also be attended by the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union.

 

The meeting was strongly desired by Minister Tajani to take stock of the situation in Syria one month after the fall of the Assad regime. The focus of the discussion will be the work of the Transitional Government and the challenges ahead of the National Dialogue Conference announced by the de facto Authorities, the drafting of a new Constitution, the integration of all components of Syrian society and the country’s economic recovery.

 

Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in attending the event may apply for accreditation by sending a request by Thursday 9 January at  12:00 noon to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06 3691 3432 – 3078, 8210 o 8573), attaching the following:

for press representatives already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request shall be sent with a copy of an identity document attached;

for representatives of Italian press organisations not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.

 

For representatives of Italian press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter
    copy of professional identity card.

 

For representatives of foreign press not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
  • Verbal Note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.

 

Press badges shall be collected in person at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, entrance Via Macchia della Farnesina, from 4:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

 

Since it is not possible to reach Villa Madama by one’s own means of transport, once accredited, journalists will be accompanied to Villa Madama by a shuttle service from Via Macchia della Farnesina (round trip), operating until the end of the event.

 

Submitting the above-mentioned personal data means authorising the use thereof in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30 June 2003 and the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679) by the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the data controller, for strictly professional purposes and/or purposes related to the performance of the event in question.
