Errico Buonanno attends the European Literature Night

The European Literature Night will take place in Lisbon on Saturaday, 9 June 2018. The literary event, now in its sixth edition, will be staged at  fourteen different locations in the charming Bairro Alto district where audiences can listen to the works of fourteen contemporary European writers.

The European Literature Night is organized by cultural institutes and embassies of the EUNIC Portugal network, including the Italian Cultural Institute, the British Council, the Camões – Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, the Embassy of Austria, the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia, the Embassy of Greece, the Embassy of Ireland, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, the Goethe-Institut, the Institut Français du Portugal, the Cervantes Institute, the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Ibero-American Institute of Finland and has the support of the representation of the European Commission in Portugal.

Italy will be represented by Errico Buonanno who will read a selection of excerpts in Italian from his latest book  “Vite straordinarie di uomini volanti” in the Sala da Irmandade of the Igreja de Nossa Senhor de Jesus / Igreja Paroquial das Mercês. Actor João Vicente will read the Portuguese version.

Reading sessions will take place between 7:00 and 10.30 pm with some of the authors who will also be present for the occasion. Pieces will be read in the original language by the authors present and in Portuguese by professional actors and students from the Lisbon Theater and Film School (ESTC). Entrance is free. Each reading session will be of 10-15 minutes and will be repeated every half hour so audiences have opportunity to visit all the venues of the literary soirée.
