“Italian Contemporary Art” Day in Brasilia

To celebrate the First Edition of the event “Giornata del Contemporaneo – Italian Contemporary Art”, the Italian Embassy in Brasilia had an Open Doors Day giving public access to the architectural and artistic peculiarities of the building designed by Pier Luigi Nervi, widely considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Brasilia and on the same level as the Brazilian capital’s most renowned monuments. The Embassy is an impressive building of great architectural and artistic value and the habitual destination of tourists visiting the Brazilian capital, including architects and engineers and, more in general, of the broader public that loves Italian art and culture.

In addition to Nervi’s architectural work, visitors were able to admire the state rooms of the Residence (restructured by two famous Brazilian designers of Italian descent, the brothers Humberto and Fernando Campana, in collaboration with Federlegno Arredo) and admire the interior decoration and the modern and contemporary works of art displayed, which include the Barche nella tonnara by Maurilio Catalano, Half Dollar by Franco Angeli, Nero e bianco by Carla Accardi and Natura Tropicale by Candido Portinari.
