The ‘Fast It’ portal (Farnesina Online Services for Italians Abroad) is active on the Foreign Ministry’s entire consular network: 200 Offices serving 5.8 million Italians residing all over the world.
In 2018, the portal was visited by 580,250 users and generated a traffic of more than 13 million hits. In the last 12 months, Fast It received 152,343 applications to be listed on the AIRE – the Register of Italians residing abroad (almost 70% of the year’s total amount) and processed 12,650 changes of address.
The use of Fast It has made application processing faster, diminished arrears, and reduced the margin of error in consular records and in interactions with users. The service is also available in mobile-friendly mode, can be effectively accessed through a smartphone and other portable devices and offers immediate interactive digital services.
The digitalisation of consular services does not end here: the project’s next phase will be to include the possibility of changing consular district on Fast It.
