Henao Quartet performs at the Italian Embassy in Madrid

The Italian Embassy in Madrid hosted a special event combining classic music and new talents. The Henao String Quartet is an ensemble comprising young musicians: violinists William Chiquito from Colombia and Soyeon Kim from South Korea, and Italian musicians Stefano Trevisan, viola, and Giacomo Menna, cello. The Quartet’s program included pieces from Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Verdi and Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Quartet was set up in Rome within the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and, in October 2018 was selected by Simone Gramaglia (viola in the Quartetto di Cremona) to participate in the project “Le Dimore del Quartetto”- an association supporting young Italian and foreign string quartets. It is also a project that is designed to shine a light on Italy’s historic buildings and houses while at the same time introducing different audiences to chamber music events. A network of houses hosting musicians ahead of a concert has been set up in cooperation with ADSI (Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane), FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) and the European Historic Houses. This network is meant to be a logistic support to concert societies in their efforts to call on young music ensembles promoting a new sustainable culture.

By hosting the Henao String Concert, the Italian Embassy in Madrid is officially part of the network of the “Dimore del Quartetto”.
