Lisbon hosts Nico Colucci’s photographic exhibition on Matera

Nico Colucci’s photographic exhibition entitled “Matera Cityscape. The Revealed City” by Nico Colucci opened at the premises of the Italian Cultural Institute in Lisbon. Colucci, a Matera-born artist, attended the opening.

It is an act of love in thirty black-and-white and colour shots that walk visitors through Matera’s most significant landmarks and its immense wealth of landscapes, architecture and history.

“Nico Colucci’s photographs allow us to delve into these unique aspects of the city, the local area and community. In other words, they introduce and prepare readers to observe what the Sassi, mountain churches, buildings, Murgia and the local area have to offer. (…) It is almost as if we could feel Matera in all its essence, its life, its uniqueness,” wrote Rossano Cervellera in his presentation .

The exhibition, which will run until July 6, is sponsored by the 2019 Matera Basilicata Foundation and is part of the programme of events that celebrate Matera, the 2019 European Capital of Culture.

Nico Colucci was born in Matera in 1969 and has published several books about his city, one of which won the XXV Compasso d’Oro Award.
