Sydney: Mezza and Ginsburg together to play jazz at the Italian Cultural Institute

The partnership between Italian pianist Vittorio Mezza and South African saxophonist Mark Ginsburg gave rise to the concert organised in Sydney by the Italian Cultural Institute. The two musicians, together with Karl Dunnicliff at the bass and Tim Firth at the drums, presented their latest album Convergence, which will also be performed at the Sydney Conservatorium International Jazz festival, after which they will continue their Australian tour in Newcastle, Wodonga, Blue Mountains and Bathurst.

The two artists met in New York in 2009 and have worked together on several projects, performing together in numerous concerts in Italy and in two tours in South Africa, performing their fresh and lively pieces. Vittorio Mezza is the only Italian pianist who has participated in the Montreaux Jazz Piano Solo Competition in 2005, and has a track record of concerts in the United States, Canada, Germany, Cameroon, Switzerland, France. He also composed UNESCO’s official hymn entitled Libertà vo cercando, dedicated to freedom, human rights, freedom of the press and especially to ending impunity for crimes against journalists.
