Italy donated 10 ambulances and 3 water tankers to the Government of Niger to enable the authorities to provide assistance to migrants and tackle human trafficking. The donation was made possible through Fund for Africa resources and carried out by the Italian Ministry of Defence who owned the vehicles.
The handover ceremony was held in Niamey on 14 October with the Italian Ambassador in attendance. The new vehicles will allow the Niger authorities to expand their range of action in helping both local communities and migrants passing through the country.
