Tirana: Mario Airò’s project Modelling water on display

The lines of Castelli ceramics shapes the natural motif of water and its flow, in an environmental installation that cites the theme of the fountain. The project ‘Modelling water’, by the Italian artist Mario Airò, will be exhibited in Tirana from 27th February, thanks to the commitment of the Italian Cultural Institute. ‘Modelling water’ was presented for the first time at the international level, at the Bazament Art Space in Tirana, together with a rich calendar of collateral activities promoted by the Italian Institute of Culture. The exhibition will then stop in Castelbasso, at the Malvina Menegaz Foundation from 4th to 26th July, to finally enter the collection of the International Ceramics Museum of Faenza, the largest Italian institution in the ceramic sector. Mario Airò is one of the greatest interpreters of the generation of artists who emerged in Italy in the 1990s. He has inaugurated a practice guided by what he calls a “wandering” through different disciplinary fields, such as literature, philosophy, art history, architecture and cinema, and an equally wide variety of materials and techniques. Born from a stay in Castelli (TE), a historical centre of majolica production in Italy, the work represents the author’s first contact with the ceramic technique. Following one of the programmatic axes of the Malvina Menegaz Foundation of Castelbasso – promoter of the project – the production of the work was accompanied by a series of didactic activities that brought students to rediscover this artistic expression.
