#WeAreItaly: Nicola Piovani, ‘Ha da passà ‘a nuttata’

“As soon as this moment has passed, the time of rebirth will come. It will find us prepared and ready to roll up our sleeves and work together, each one in their own field. This is the message with which the composer, pianist and conductor Nicola Piovani wanted to join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ‘s campaign ‘Culture doesn’t stop’ #WeAreItaly. From the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Piovani says: “These are difficult times for Italy, Europe and the whole planet. In these situations, I am surprised to discover how Italians, when they go through moments of individual and collective difficulties, can give their best. The old generations, who survived the tragedy of the war, used to tell me this”. “The epidemic we are living through hasn’t yet had the tragic effects of the war, and we hope that it never has – concludes the Oscar Prize winner – I hope that all this will end soon. “Ha da passà ‘a nuttata’ (the night has to pass), as the great Italian playwright Eduardo De Filippo used to say”.
