Creating a bridge between pre and post-pandemic and keeping the dialogue with the British public open. This is how #ItalyRest-Art, the cultural and scientific divulgation and promotion programme of the Italian Embassy in London, was conceived. The initiative is entirely online in collaboration with the Cultural Institutes of London and Edinburgh.
From 8 May to 17 June, the most important British and Italian cultural, artistic and academic institutions will speak with their experts in live streaming and offer the public the opportunity to follow conversations, seminars and meetings on a wide range of topics, from reflections on the use of museums in times of isolation at home to interventions on the pandemic, from literary presentations to a look at Italian film production.
It is an online mode of proposing cultural, commercial, and artistic events. Such events represent the core of the Embassy’s external projection because they can be accessed remotely and reach a much wider audience; they can also focus on the multiplier effect of the social channels of all the institutions involved.
“The United Kingdom will soon return to be the world’s driving force and hub of cultural and artistic trends,” stressed Raffaele Trombetta, Italian Ambassador in London. “With #ItalyRest-Art we are ready, starting from the pillars of the Italian presence in the world: art, literature, cinema, Made in Italy, excellence in scientific research”. In collaboration with the leading British artistic and cultural institutions, we embrace new technologies to continue to promote Italy in an integrated way”.
