A concert by the musical artist Maria Mazzotta is scheduled for Saturday 4 September in Vienna upon the initiative of the Italian Cultural Institute and ORF RadioKulturhaus, at whose premises (at 7.30 pm) the event will be held as part of the “Onde d’Italia” cycle. The accordion played by Vince Abbracciante will accompany the Italian artist’s voice.
Mazzotta is one of the most influential and expressive voices in Southern Italy. As a member of the group Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, she has become one of the most appreciated artists on the European world music scene. Her repertoire includes traditional folk songs and new arrangements of Italian song classics such as Domenico Modugno’s ‘Lu pisci Spada’.
Mazzotta has also successfully established herself on the European world music scene. She ranked third on the World Music Charts Europe with her new album ‘Amoreamaro’, an intense and passionate reflection on the different facets of love from a female point of view: from the most extraordinary and tender devotion to the possessive and destructive passion.
