The tenth edition of the Festival Internacional de Música Sacra de Bogotá, the most important sacred music festival in the South American country, opened on 9 September and will continue until 3 October.
The Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Bogotá are participating in the event with the Audivi vocem de caelo (Hearing voices from Heaven) project, a video concert by the ensemble La Terza Prattica, directed by Maestro Massimiliano Toni.
Audivi vocem de caelo is a musical pilgrimage through the Italian repertoire of the 17th century, with pieces by Monteverdi, Carissimi, Frescobaldi, Palestrina, and Isabella Leonarda, among others, and was filmed in Galliate (NO), at the church of San Pietro in Vulpiate, better known as the Varallino Sanctuary.
Audivi vocem de caelo, introduced by the Italian Ambassador in Bogotá, Gherardo Amaduzzi, was broadcast for the first time on Sunday 19 September on the Colombian public television channel Canal Capital. The excellent response from critics and the public prompted the Festival organisers to schedule a second TV broadcast of the concert, rebroadcast by Canal Capital, last Saturday at 6 p.m. local time.
