The mission of AICS in Tanzania

From 2 to 12 September, a delegation of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Nairobi, led by Dr Davide Bonechi and composed of Dr Giulia Dagliana and Beatrice Borchi of the Global Health Centre of the Tuscany region, carried out an assessment mission to launch a donation project in the health field. The project should lead to the allocation of 1 million and 250 thousand euros in Tanzania. This regional initiative, which will also involve Uganda and Kenya, will focus above all on creating a regional health network that will exchange good practices and experiences and training, distribute medical equipment, and strengthen existing health services. From the meetings at health facilities in Dodoma, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, an interesting picture emerged, especially in neonatal medical assistance. Ambassador Marco Lombardi, who accompanied the Delegation in its meeting with the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health, Professor Abel Makubi, expressed his deep appreciation for the initiative, also in consideration of the fact that President Samia Suhulu Hassan has consistently placed among her priorities the assistance to new mothers and children, also considering the high birth rates and the average age of the Tanzanian population of 18 years
