The programme of celebrations of Dante Alighieri continues in Athens. On 5 October the Ambassador of Italy to Greece, Patrizia Falcinelli, inaugurated “The image of images”, an exhibition promoted and organised by the Italian Cultural Institute, to mark the year of the 700th anniversary of the death of the Supreme Poet.
Under the scientific direction of Prof. Gerasimos Zoras and the artistic direction of Konstantinos Moussas, nine Italian and eleven Greek artists have reinterpreted the Divine Comedy in a contemporary key, using a range of different techniques and materials to interpret its extraordinary heritage, testifying to the great influence that Dante had, and that still continues today, including in Greece.
The works – which were specially created for this exhibition – are on display at the Italian Cultural Institute. The exhibition is open to the public, free of charge, Mondays- Fridays from 1500-1900, and on Saturdays from 1000 to 1300. Further information on the event is available on the website of the Italian Cultural Institute and the Facebook page.
