The Italian Cultural Institute in Copenhagen, on the occasion of the Giornata del Contemporaneo (Day of the Contemporary), is hosting Donatella Spaziani’s exhibition “Insieme concertante”. For the first time, unpublished photographs taken by the artist, whose works are also in the Farnesina Collection, will be on display during the first lockdown in Rome, alongside pencil drawings with collages of newspaper cuttings and an installation with wallpaper.

In the outdoor areas of the Institute, on the other hand, the installation “Insieme Concertante” will be placed. It gives the title to the entire exhibition. It consists of an “ensemble” of iron and ceramic tables designed by the artist and some chairs explicitly conceived for the outdoors. “Insieme Concertante” is the third permanent work to be hosted at the Institute’s garden, after “Astratti furori” by Felice Levini and “Tutti i passi che ho fatto nella mia vita mi hanno portato qui, ora” by Alberto Garutti.

The project, launched in 2019 to promote and enhance contemporary Italian art in Denmark, aims to create a sculptural park in the garden in front of the Institute’s headquarters.  The interaction between architecture, nature and the changing of time and seasons make the enjoyment of the works a unique experience, each time different.

On the opening of the exhibition, Donatella Spaziani will present at the Institute the book and video, an integral part of the event, “NAJM Stars, terraces, courtyards and gardens”, made in Naples last September. NAJM is a project based on an idea by Maria Pia Incutti and Anna Fresa, which for three days brought contemporary art to the terraces, courtyards, and private gardens of Naples to discover the most evocative outdoor spaces of the city, enriched by the works of contemporary artists. At Villa Piromallo, curated by the Zerynthia Association and Alberto Del Genio, Donatella Spaziani presented an installation in which several maps drawn on the façade of the building were arranged to reconstruct the looted decorations and thus transform the architecture into a natural stage setting. The “Insieme Concertante” exhibition will remain open until 14 January.
