The Italian Institute of Culture in Madrid has scheduled an exciting program of musical, artistic and literary events for the holiday season – starting on December 13 and running until December 19 – produced jointly with other local institutions, to be held at the Institute, the Royal Palace and Conde Duque.
The initiatives included round tables (on December 13 and 15) organized in collaboration with the MAPFRE Foundation in the sphere of the exhibition “Morandi. Infinite Resonance” (open until January 9, 2022), a retrospective exploration of the work of Giorgio Morandi, one of the most significant yet difficult-to-classify artists of the 20th century. The curators of the exhibition, Daniela Ferrari and Alessia Masi, presented the personality of the artist in two lecture-debates: “Morandi and the Ordinary World” and “Morandi and the Contemporary World”, at the Royal Palace of Madrid (admission free).
Classical music enthusiasts were able to enjoy an extraordinary concert on December 14 at the Royal Palace of Madrid (admission free): “Iphigenia, cantata dedicated to the Princess of the Asturias, Maria Luisa di Parma” (1779), by the Italian composer Rosa Coccia, the first woman to earn the title of Chapel-Master at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome, which was necessary to practice the profession.
Yesterday, December 15, at 6 p.m., the final meeting of the literary club: “Spazio Dante: my Dante” was held with the participation of all the experts who have moderated, presented and illustrated the great works of Dante Alighieri during the last several meetings of the cycle in the program “Madrid City for Dante”, organized by the Italian Institute of Culture.
Over the coming days (at 8 p.m. at the Institute, with free admission by reservation only) the spotlight will be on jazz: the innovative vocalist and composer Ada Montellanico, accompanied by the musicians Enrico Zanisi, Jacopo Ferrazza and Alessandro Paternesi will be featured in the grand finale of the cycle “On stage at the Palace” with two concerts, “Tencology” (December 16) presenting many beloved songs from the Tenco repertoire in a completely new interpretation, along with original pieces, while on December 17, “An Evening of Jazz” will be an emotional excursion through musical history.
From December 17 to 19, as part of the program “Navidad” organized by the City of Madrid, under the aegis of the Italian Embassy with the Conde Duque Cultural Center, visitors will be able to enjoy the exhibition of Italian digital art entitled “Do humans need humans?”, organized by a group of Italian artists.
