International Holocaust Remembrance Day: Belgrade hosts a conference entitled ”From the inexpressible to the invisible.”

To mark the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in Belgrade hosts an online debate entitled ”From the inexpressible to the invisible: interpreting the Remembrance of the Shoah through documents and projects. A dialogue between architecture and history.“

 

Guido Morpurgo and Milovan Pisarri will discuss the topic, with contributions by Ambassador of Italy to Serbia, Carlo Lo Cascio, and the President of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Serbia, Robert Sabadoš. Guido Morpurgo, architect and member of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, associated professor of Architecture at the IUAV University of Venice, has signed projects such as the one for the Shoah Memorial in Milan and the new headquarters of the Centro di Documentazione Ebraica Contemporanea in Milan. He has organized exhibitions on the 1938 Racial Laws and on the recovery of a fragment of the former Warsaw Ghetto. Milovan Pisarru is a historian and a researcher at the Institue of Philosophy and Social Theory of the University of Belgrade. He has been researching the Shoah and the genocide of Roma people in Serbia and the Balkans for many years.
