Today, March 4, a film festival of Federico Fellini’s main works has started in Berkeley, California. The event (“Federico Fellini 100“), organised in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco for the centenary of the artist’s birth, will run until May 14 at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA).

The Italian director was a masterful artist of memory, dream, imagination and desire. He was a central figure in the international art film movement that took off in the mid-1950s. One hundred years after his birth, Fellini’s films still fascinate with their baroque flare, emotional resonance and great visual design.

Twelve films are scheduled in the screenings, including “La Strada“, “La Dolce Vita“, “Amarcord“, “The White Sheik”, “8 ½”, “Nights of Cabiria”, “Juliet of the Spirits”, “Fellini’s Casanova”, “Ginger and Fred”.
