The Italian Ambassador in Madrid, Riccardo Guariglia, took part in the XII International Congress of Jacobean Studies in Santiago de Compostela, in the prestigious Royal Hall of the Hospital of the Catholic Monarchs. This year’s Congress, celebrated on the occasion of the Jubilee Year of the Camino de Santiago (21-22), is dedicated to the “Paths of knowledge, walking, and believing”, with the participation of several Italian teachers and scholars. In fact, most of the pilgrims who walk the Camino de Santiago in Galicia come from Italy.

The Congress will be divided into several sessions and will end on Saturday, 26 March. In addition to Ambassador Guariglia, the opening of the Congress was also attended by the Vice President of the Government of Galicia, Alfonso Rueda; the Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela, Monsignor Julián Barrio; Ambassador Patrick Engelberg, representing the Council of Europe; and the President of the International Committee of Experts of the Camino de Santiago and coordinator of the Congress, Paolo Caucci von Saucken.
