Rabat, exhibition by artist Donatella Chiarenza

ReteRabat
Rabat, mostra della pittrice Donatella Chiarenza

An exhibition by Genoese artist Donatella Chiarenza will be opening at the Italian Cultural Institute in Rabat at 18:30 on Thursday 17 March. The exhibition will be hosted at the Institute’s premises (2 bis, Avenue Ahmed El Yazidi (ex-Meknès) – Hassan). Works produced by the painter since she came to live in Morocco will be on show, their shapes and colours testifying to the Mediterranean as their source of inspiration.

Born in 1964, Donatella Chiarenza began her creative career in 1986 as a designer and author of children’s books and comics. Since 1988 comic strips and cartoons from her “Fattoria di Mondo pollastro” have been published in women’s magazines, newspapers and school diaries. Her ten or so children’s books have been translated into several languages. Her works are exhibited at the Museo della Satira (Satire Museum) in Forte dei Marmi.

Donatella Chiarenza has been painting since 1994 and her works have also been shown in a variety of other exhibitions and galleries. She is a classical and, at the same time, contemporary painter who enjoys experimenting but has a predilection for figurative painting and subjects from nature, in the simple quest for beauty. She loves Morocco and its colours and the refined tastes of Arab culture. With a keen interest in portraiture, she has painted numerous faces of women and children in Morocco.
