The Italian Embassy in Rabat, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Casablanca, the ICE Agency for the promotion and the internationalization of Italian companies in Casablanca, the Institute of Italian Culture in Rabat and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Morocco, has planned a series of initiatives for the days of March 29, 30 and 31 to celebrate the Italian Design Day. In this edition, the events scheduled in three Moroccan cities will be enhanced by the participation of Andrea Anastasio, Professor of Anthropology of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Syracuse MADE Program, as well as cosmopolitan designer, whose project focuses on the ability of design to start processes of social cohesion and economic emancipation, through the design and production of handicrafts. In particular, at the Conference “Le Design générateur de communauté“, scheduled on March 29 at the Mohammed VI Museum in Rabat, besides Professor Andrea Anastasio and journalist Eleonore Benit as moderator, the following personalities will participate: international designer Hicham Lahlou, Regional Advisor Africa WDO; the Director of the Ecole d’Architecture, de Design et d’Urbanisme Université EuroMed of Fès, Iman Benkirane; the Director of the publishing house Yomad Editions, Nadia Essalmi and the Director of Fondation Ali Zaoua, Sophia Akmisse. On March 30, Professor Anastasio will meet the students of the EuroMediterranean University of Fez and will talk with them on the theme “Construire le contemporain, l’innovation et la tradition dans le processus de fabrication artisanale – le rôle de l’art et du design dans la construction de la communauté“. Again on March 30, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Morocco has scheduled a meeting at the Hotel Kenzi Tower in Casablanca on the theme “Sixième Journée du design italien – La meilleure façon de prédire le futur est de concevoir un design durable“. Finally, on Thursday March 31, the ICE Office in Casablanca will present the “Italian Design Day: Showroom Eccellenze italiane” with the main Moroccan distributors of Italian brands who will showcase a selection of products representing Italian excellence in the field of design across the various sectors.
