To mark World Poetry Day, which will be celebrated on 21 March 2022, the Italian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv is dedicating an evening to a selection of Italian and Israeli female poets whose work has been translated for the first time for the occasion. The event will be conducted by poet and literature scholar Navit Barel, who will open the programme with some reflections on the meaning and value of poetry in our society. The director of the Institute, Maria Sica, will also be taking part.
The actress Lilian Barreto will read, in Hebrew, a selection from the works of Italian poets Antonella Anedda, Biancamaria Frabotta, Mariangela Gualtieri, Vivian Lamarque, Alda Merini and Giovanna Cristina Vivinetto. The event will also include a screening of video clips from the concert “Sono nata in primavera – Milva canta Merini”.
Guest attendees, the Israeli poets Agi Mishol and Noam Partom, will also be reading some of their verses.
