On Wednesday 11 May the Italian Cultural Institute in Barcelona will host a screening of the documentary “Lina Bo Bardi, dal vetro al fango” (Lina Bo Bardi, from glass to mud), on the work of the famous Italian architect.
The film is directed by Josep Mº Montaner and Jacobo Sucari. It was produced by the Asociación Multimedia de Acciones Culturales with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute and the Istituto Bardi in São Paulo.
Lina Bo Bardi, an Italian architect and designer and naturalised Brazilian, studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Rome in the 1930s. After graduating she moved to Milan, where she worked for Giò Ponti, publisher of the Quaderni di Domus magazine, which she went on to edit. In Milan she set up her own practice but it was destroyed in a bombing raid in 1943. In collaboration with Bruno Zevi, she founded a weekly magazine entitled A-Cultura della Vita. In 1946, after the war, she married the journalist Pietro Maria Bardi.
