The Italian training ship “Amerigo Vespucci” docked in the port of Lisbon. After calling at Palermo, Tunis, and Algiers, the ship stopped at the capital of Portugal, where it had last called in 2019.
On arriving at Lisbon – the first European capital and the first Atlantic port called at in its Training Campaign 2022 – a reception was held on board the ship with the attendance of the personnel of the Italian Embassy, Portuguese institutional representatives, members of the Italian community and of the international organisations present in the city.
During its 3-day call at the port of the Portuguese capital, the training ship’s crew told visitors of the founding values of our Country’s Navy and noble seafaring tradition, thus converting the ship into a floating showcase of Brand Italy and projecting the Italian style, beauty, and elegance beyond the national boundaries, all enclosed within a unique and extremely suggestive framework.
With its crew of 143 cadets, the “Vespucci” significantly promotes external relations, having a privileged relationship with the Italian communities abroad, as well as with the embassies and the Italian Cultural Institutes based in the ports of call across its long journey.
From Lisbon, the ship then sailed to Morocco, where it is expected to arrive at Casablanca next 6 August.
